The
course helps teachers understand multiculturalism, and
learn to apply non-biased, non-sexist, multicultural
teaching methods to the creation of more effective,
enlightened classroom instruction. Using seven
distinctive "micro-cultures" as a framework
for discussion, the course defines multiculturalism as
more than just ethnicity. A broadened perspective of
multiculturalism shows how individuals and families
belong to a number of micro-cultures that reach beyond
heritage or country of origin. Additionally, a
discussion of educational implications for each
micro-culture, with specific recommendations for
effectively bringing each group into the educational
process.

governs the state school systems of the United States.

has worked on the front line in mental health
settings with individuals and their families,
primarily with teenagers. Ms. Jodoin has developed

children whose behavior has resulted in school
expulsion.

Christine Gee has a Bachelor's of Science in
